Plain answers to the questions men actually ask.
Organized by what most men want to know first. If your question isn't here, email support@waltersapothecary.com — we add common ones to this page weekly.
Results & timeline
How quickly will I see results?
Most men notice fewer trips by week two. Full effect typically arrives at week six. The 90-night guarantee is built around that timeline.
Saw palmetto isn't a sleep pill — it doesn't sedate you. It works on the prostate itself, which takes time. Your body's not going to feel different the morning after the first capsule, and that's normal.
What if I don't feel any change after 90 nights?
Mail the bottle back — empty is fine — and we refund every cent. No questionnaire, no exit survey, no convincing required. The empty bottle is your receipt. Full guarantee terms here.
Does the time of day matter?
Pharmacologically, not really. Saw palmetto is accumulation-based — it builds up in prostate tissue over weeks, not on a per-dose basis.
What matters is the meal, not the clock. With food, you absorb about twice as much as on an empty stomach. Pick the meal you'll most reliably remember.
Should I take it forever, or stop after a while?
That's your call. BPH is age-related and tends to progress slowly, so most men who stop find their symptoms drift back over weeks or months. Most of our customers take Walter's indefinitely. There's no withdrawal, no rebound — you stop, you stop.
What if I miss a day?
Take it with the next meal. Don't double up. The formula works on accumulation, so an occasional missed day won't undo your progress — but consistency is what gets you to the full effect.
Ingredients & safety
Will Walter's interact with my prescription medication?
Saw palmetto has no known significant interactions with the most common BPH medications (Flomax, tamsulosin, Avodart, Proscar, finasteride, dutasteride) or common blood pressure medications (lisinopril, amlodipine, losartan, hydrochlorothiazide).
One caveat. If you're on a blood thinner — warfarin, clopidogrel, Eliquis — talk to your doctor before adding any supplement, including this one. Saw palmetto can mildly affect platelet function. Worth the conversation.
Are there side effects?
Saw palmetto is well-tolerated in published trials. The most common reported side effects are mild stomach upset (which is why we tell you to take it with a meal) and, rarely, mild headache in the first week.
Notably absent from the side-effect profile: the things Flomax customers complain about. No retrograde ejaculation. No dizziness on standing up. No floppy iris issues if you ever need eye surgery. No sexual dysfunction.
Will this affect my PSA test?
Possibly a little. Saw palmetto can lower PSA readings modestly. Tell your urologist you're taking Walter's before the blood draw, not after. He'll factor it in.
If you're working through a biopsy decision or pre-op, talk to him before you start.
How is this different from the saw palmetto on Amazon?
Two reasons.
The dose. Most Amazon saw palmetto is 160 mg, or it lists 'saw palmetto blend 500 mg' — which could be 50 mg of extract behind 450 mg of filler. We're 300 mg of standardized extract — the dose used in the published trials.
The extract. Two kinds of saw palmetto on the market: cheap powdered berry, and lipidosterolic CO₂ extract. Powdered berry has barely any of the active compounds. CO₂ extract is what European prescription Permixon is made from. We use the latter. Costs about four times more to source. Worth it.
Is this for women too?
No. Walter's is formulated for the male prostate. It's not designed for women.

The 90-night guarantee
Why 90 nights?
Most men hit full effect by week six. We added a buffer for the men who take longer. Ninety nights is enough time to know — and not so long that we're stalling you out.
Do I have to mail back an empty bottle?
Any amount. Full, half-empty, completely empty — we don't care. Empty is fine.
Do you really refund every cent?
Yes. Product price refunded in full. We even cover return shipping with a prepaid label. The only thing we don't refund is original shipping (if you paid it) — and most orders qualify for free shipping anyway.
Subscription & billing
How does the subscription work?
Subscribe to any order and we automatically refill it at 15% off. Single-bottle subscriptions refill every 30 days; bundle subscriptions (3 bottles or the Sleep Set) refill every 60 days. Bundle subscriptions also include free shipping every refill. Single-bottle subscriptions get the 15% discount; standard shipping rates apply. Cancel anytime from your account or by email.
How do I cancel my subscription?
One click in your account, or one email to support@waltersapothecary.com. We make it as easy to leave as it is to join. No exit interviews, no retention games.
Can I skip a shipment?
Yes. Push your next refill out one cycle from your account. Going on vacation, already have a backup bottle, just need a break — all valid reasons. No questions asked.
For wives & caregivers
I'm buying this for my husband. What should I know?
About one in four of our customers are wives buying for their husbands — sometimes he doesn't even know it's coming. The 90-night guarantee covers him either way. If he gives it 90 nights and nothing changes, send the empty bottle back. If he doesn't take it at all, send the full bottle back. Either way, every cent refunded.
How do I get him to actually take it?
Most wives tell us the conversation that works is: 'I read about this, the dose is what the European studies use, the company refunds every cent if it doesn't work, and I'm asking you to try it for ninety nights.' That's the framing that lands with most older men — the math, the guarantee, and the request.
